The Story

Victorian dinner ring centered upon a GIA certified approx. 1.50 carat oval-cut Alamandine garnet. Surrounded by approximately .85 carats of old mine cut diamonds set in 18K yellow gold. British marks. Center: 22.6 x 11.2, band: 2-3.5mm. Circa 1854.

Garnets were very fashionable during the Victorian Era, and the Almandine variety of the reddish garnets (but with a hint of violet) were unique in it's depth and mysterious hue.

Diamond and gold mining has caused devastation in areas such as Africa, wreaking havoc on delicate ecosystems and communities. Choosing to go vintage, you are eliminating the need for more mining and lessening the demand for new diamonds.
