The Story
Art Deco ring centering a GIA certified 2.45 carat cushion-cut natural and unheated Cambodian sapphire. In a dome shaped ring accented with single-cut diamonds, approx. 0.75 carat. Mounted in openwork and millegrain platinum. Signed T.B. Starr. Center: 13mm, band: 1.6 - 3.3mm. Circa 1920.
This bombé or domed profile does a beautiful job of highlighting both the facets and curves of the sapphire's cushion-cut.
Diamond and gold mining has caused devastation in areas such as Africa, wreaking havoc on delicate ecosystems and communities. Choosing to go vintage, you are eliminating the need for more mining and lessening the demand for new diamonds.
